Actress Ingrid Bergman Star, Star Walk Outside Hotel San Carlos, Phoenix, Arizona celebrity styles
Image by classic_film This star bears the name of and the electronic engraved signature of award-winning actress Ingrid Bergman (August 29, 1915 â€" August 29, 1982). This is one of a number of metal stars that are embedded in the surrounding walkway on the east and south sides of the historic Hotel San Marcos (down Monroe Street and Central Avenue) in downtown Phoenix, Arizona. Imitating the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame in California, this "Star Walk" was created in 1993 to commemorate the hotel's 65th birthday, and to serve as a tribute to the movie stars of the Golden Era of Hollywood and other celebrities who were regular guests of the elegant hotel in its earlier glory years. Location: 202 N. Central Avenue Phoenix, Arizona Some historical background about the historic hotel; text selections from the Hotel San Carlos website: The Hotel San Carlos was established in 1928, and is a proud member of The Historic Hotels of America and The National Trust for Historic Preservation. 1927: The Hotel San Carlos finally became the hotel project the growing city yearned for when Charles Harris, financed by Dwight B. Heard, purchased the hotel site and began construction. The design was done by nationally known architects, G. Witecross Ritchie of Los Angeles, in the Italian renaissance style. 1928: The formal Grand opening March 20th, 1928 was boldly announced in the Arizona Gazette (now the Arizona Republic). Mr. Dwight Heard, a prominent figure in Phoenix real estate and development, and his partner, Charles Harris, were very proud of their state-of-the-art hotel. It was the most modern hotel in the entire Southwest United States, the first air conditioned, high-rise hotel in Phoenix, and the first high-rise hotel with elevators (hand operated) in the state. It had Italian tapestries, a card room, dancing, and an outdoor sun room. At a time when the latest automobile, the model "A" Ford, cost only 0, the Hotel San Carlos was build at a cost of nearly 0,000! [...] 1928-1960: During this time, the hotel continued to be a hub for the Phoenix elite, political and social, as well as a Mecca for Hollywood stars. Mae West stayed here in 1929 while performing at the Orpheum Theatre, 203 W. Adams, in "I'm No Angel". It was reported she left orders with the front desk to "not be awaked until 3:00 pm with a bottle of champagne and two glasses." The Phoenix Press Club was founded here. Clark Gable and Carole Lombard spent much of their romantic time here in Arizona at the San Carlos. Gable often referred to Lombard as the "love of his life." Marilyn Monroe was a guest during her filming of Bus Stop. She wanted a room close to our pool on the third floor, so that she could slip out to the deck and sunbath with the least amount of attention. Other stars such as Spencer Tracy, Jean Harlow, Cary Grant, Ingrid Bergman, Gary Cooper, Humphrey Bogart, Gene Autry, and big band artists Kay Starr, Woody Herman and Harry James all spent time here over the years. Governors, senators, and countless other notables, also enjoyed the services of the San Carlos over the years.

Image by Eva Rinaldi Celebrity and Live Music Photographer New Motion Party At Luna Park Sydney, by Eva Rinaldi In the latest of big music gigs to hit Sydney the New Motion Party has gone off with a bang. We're pleased to report that it was not a train wreck, nor a car accident (sponsored by Hyundai), as if you could have missed the advertising. Tonight's celebrity list included included Marvin Priest (son of Maxi) and Aloe Blacc. Make no mistake, Marvin was there to perform to the best of his ability. He's currently got two of the biggest club anthems on the ARIA charts and you might have guessed that he's the son of reggae legend Maxi Priest. It's the first time the London-born legend in the making has been to Luna Park. He joined hip hop-jazz artist Aloe Blacc ('I Need A Dollar'). "I’m excited - I’ve got a new summer anthem to play," Priest said. We were pleased to find out that Priest has called Australia home for the past two years, soaking it up when he on tour with his famous father. "I love how relaxed and chilled out Aussies are - they’re just mad cool," he said. Priest performs what can be described as soul-infused urban club anthems. He's set to release his debut album Beats & Blips via Island Records on 25th November. His first single was 'Own This Club' and it climaxed #6 on the ARIA singles chart and went double platinum. Probed about his success Priest said "I’m blown away by it, I’m happy and excited but it’s what I’ve always wanted, I’ve put in my years and I need to do music." Priest is happy to see that Australia is really starting to embrace high quality urban dance producers. Well done to everyone involved with the New Motion Party, and we look forward to continuing to track the success of the artists who performed tonight. Shoe-for-Shoon-winner - Laura Kerry celebrity fashion trends
Image by Shoon Shoes We are always on the look out for new things happening in the world of footwear, whether we are at trade fairs, reading magazines or travelling around the globe. This summer we decided to launch a competition for University students, ‘A Shoe for Shoon’. We wanted to inspire a whole new generation of potential shoe designers, sellers and buyers with the wonderful opportunity to design us a shoe. Students were given a commercial brief, which included details of their target customer. The entries were outstanding and we were really excited to see the creativity shown in the designs we received. We then had the very difficult task of judging the designs, selecting a shortlist of finalists and then an overall winner. As well as looking for a creative design we were keen to find something unique that would fit with Shoon’s philosophy. And the winner is Laura Kerry We caught up with Laura to fine out how she came up with her design. What was the inspiration behind your design? My shoe design was primarily inspired by flowers and the current trend for cut-out design. I therefore decided to create a heeled sandal with a petal inspired cut-out upper that was both stylish and practical. How did you research your style and customer? Looking at the footwear that ‘Shoon’ already promoted and sold gave me a good insight into the style, colour and height of the shoes that their customers were interested in. Using magazines and fashion journals I was able to take trends into consideration to ensure my design was relevant and in-season. Have shoes always been a passion for you? Like most young aspiring designers, shoes are something I have always been passionate about. Wearing a pair of on-trend shoes can update and complete an outfit without the need to buy new clothes! What are the major trends in footwear at the moment? Loafers, mules, chunky cut-out sandals and block heels are huge right now and are absolutely everywhere! Who is your favourite footwear designer? Currently, I’d have to say my favourite footwear designer company would be Vagabond. Their instantly recognisable chunky shoes are stylish yet practical and hardwearing. If you could create a range of footwear what would be key to your designs, comfort, value, quality, the environment? I believe that quality design is key when it comes to footwear. If I was to create a range of shoes I would focus on designing stylish yet comfortable footwear which are good value for money without compromising on quality. Who are your influences? My biggest influences when designing shoes are the footwear trends found on the catwalk. The likes of ACNE Studios and Miu Miu are particularly influential to my designs. Which celebrity would you like to wear your shoes? As my shoes are designed with the more mature lady in mind, I would like to think someone such as Twiggy, Gwyneth Paltrow or Jennifer Aniston might like my design! What are your favourite fashion and footwear blogs? I am constantly on the look out for inspiring fashion/footwear blogs but my current favourites are www.kaylahadlington.blogspot.co.uk www.thepulseoffashion.blogspot.com and www.thingsidothinkandbuy.com/ Where do you see yourself in 5 years time? Hopefully working within the fashion/footwear industry. My dream would be to work as part of a design team for a fashion house or independent designer. Heels or Flats? Although I almost always wear comfy flats whist at university or on the go, heels are so much more fun to wear and style around! What are your 3 essential summer shoes? My essential shoes for this summer are chunky, cut-out truckers, jelly shoes and simple sliders for the beach! What trends would you be working on for AW2014? A/W 2014 is set to be all about heavy embellishment, snakeskin, colour blocking and geometric print design. These are all things to consider when designing for the season, which is bound to be bright and exciting! Well done, and thank you Laura.

Image by foxypar4 Remember my attempts at being a member of the paparazzi last Sunday? Well, they were an unqualified success and today (20th July) my photograph was featured on the front page of our local newspaper (The Northern Times). Time to give up the day job and become a photojournalist! The full text of the article is below - Angel drops in to promote Royal Dornoch Published: 20 July, 2007 AS ONE of the glamorous stars of the 1970s TV series Charlie’s Angels, actress Cheryl Ladd is no stranger to high octane thrills and adventure. But the American actress and singer refrained from jumping out of her helicopter when she dropped into Royal Dornoch Golf Club on Sunday, preferring to wait until it had safely touched down. Cheryl (56), from Huron, South Dakota, was one of several golf-mad celebrities invited to take part in a promotional film of the country’s leading golf courses for VisitScotland. They were each asked to choose their favourite Scottish course and were then filmed playing part of that course. Cheryl fell in love with the game after being introduced to it by her second husband, Brian Russell, in 1981. Two years ago she published an autobiographical account of her golfing experiences entitled: “Token Chick: A Woman’s Guide to Golfing with the Boys.” Royal Dornoch manager John Duncan liaised with VisitScotland and film production company IWC Media Ltd over the star’s visit. “Cheryl had happy memories of Dornoch and wanted to come back and play a hole here for the film,” he said this week. “She was staying at Loch Lomond with her husband for the Scottish Open.” He added: “I just hope something will come of it. Some of the film crew said there was enough money for this shot, but they didn’t know if the budget would stretch to more or whether the final film would be seen on television or the internet.” Club professional Andrew Skinner caddied for Cheryl as she was filmed playing the fifth hole. “She was a little late in arriving so we didn’t get out onto the course until around 10.30am and it probably took around three-and-a-half hours in total. They just filmed the one hole because otherwise we would have been there all day,” he said. “Cheryl was interviewed out on the course and asked about her previous experience of the course and why she had chosen Scotland and Royal Dornoch in particular.” He added: “She was lovely. She is quite a good golfer and has a handicap of 16, which is quite good for a lady. She has been as low as 14 and her ambition is to get down to single figures.” Cheryl was recently quoted in an American magazine as saying: “Scotland is amazing. I think one of my favourites besides Loch Lomond â€" which is really incredible, but it’s really an American-style golf course â€" is Royal Dornoch. It is one of the oldest courses, if not the oldest golf course in Scotland.” VisitScotland spokeswoman Lorna MacLennan said the film footage would probably not be used for television advertising but possibly for a webcast, a podcast or for an e-mail marketing campaign. “In filming Cheryl at Royal Dornoch we were just getting some golf footage for our library,” she said. “We don’t know what we’re going to use it for yet, but it is there if needed. Opportunities come up quite quickly in marketing, and if we don’t have the right footage then we miss out.”
